Volunteers Needed to Bring a Catholic Presence to Detainees; You Must Be Trained in Order to Enter the Prison
The Catholic Detention Ministry to the detainees of Santa Rita Jail always needs volunteers. You need to plan ahead if you are interested -- several times a year there are informational sessions with current volunteers, and then formal training by the Catholic Church and also by the prison officials.
The time commitment after you are trained is 1-2 Saturday mornings a month (enter about 8am, out before 11am). You work with experienced volunteers to bring a Communion Service to Catholic detainees.
